Practical lawn cultivation techniques three

Land irrigation

1. Methods of lawn irrigation

Lawn irrigation includes flood irrigation, hose irrigation, sprinkler irrigation, drip irrigation and other methods.

2. Irrigation timing

Judgment of irrigation timing: When the leaf color changes from bright to dark or the soil turns light white, the lawn needs irrigation.

3. Irrigation rates

Mature irrigation principle: “Water when it is dry, and water it thoroughly at once.”

Principle of immature irrigation: “a small amount and many times”.

4. Irrigation operation

During the growing season, early morning and evening when there is no wind or breeze are the better times for watering. Reducing the time the leaf surface is wet can reduce the chance of disease. If watered in the morning, wind and sunlight can quickly dry out the leaves.

It is best to avoid irrigation at noon in summer. Because irrigation at this time can easily cause lawn burns and strong evaporation, it will reduce the utilization rate of irrigation water and interfere with other lawn management measures. The lawn can be sprayed with a small amount of foliar water.

Precautions:

1) Fertilization operations need to be closely integrated with lawn irrigation to prevent “seedling burning”.

2) In northern areas where there is little snow in winter and little rain in spring, “frozen water” should be poured before winter so that the roots can absorb sufficient water and enhance the ability to resist drought and survive the winter.

3) In spring, before the lawn turns green, pour “spring water” once to prevent the lawn from dying due to spring drought during the budding period and promote early greening.

4) Sandy soil has poor water retention capacity. In winter, when the weather is sunny and the temperature is high during the day, irrigate until the soil surface is moist. Do not water more or accumulate water to avoid freezing at night and causing freezing damage.

5) If the lawn is severely trampled and the soil is dry and hard, holes should be drilled before irrigation to allow water to penetrate into the soil.
