4. Fertilization
Fertilization should be applied in small amounts and multiple times to ensure uniform growth of the grass.
(1) Fertilizer
① Compound fertilizers are divided into two types: quick-soluble and slow-soluble, which are the main fertilizers for green grass lawns. Instant compound fertilizer is dissolved in water and then sprayed, while slow compound fertilizer is generally directly spread dry. However, the application of slow compound fertilizer usually causes local burning, so it is mostly used for green grass lawns with lower requirements.
② Urea. Urea is a high-efficiency nitrogen fertilizer and is often used for greening green grass lawns. Excessive use of nitrogen fertilizer on green grass lawns will cause the plant’s disease resistance to decrease and become infected. Improper concentration can also easily cause burns, so it is generally not suitable for excessive use.
③ Liquid nitrogen fertilizer has a similar effect to urea.
④ Long-term compound fertilizer is a solid multi-element fertilizer with long fertilizer effect and good effect. Generally, there will be no burning phenomenon, but it is expensive.
(2) Principles of fertilizer selection
Green grass lawns above level 1 use instant compound fertilizer and long-term fertilizer, level 2 and 3 green grass lawns use slow-soluble compound fertilizer, and level 4 lawns basically do not apply fertilizer.
(3) Fertilization method
① Instant compound fertilizer is dissolved in a water bath at a concentration of 0.5%, and then evenly sprayed with a high-pressure sprayer. The fertilizer application amount is 80㎡/kg.
② After diluting according to the concentration and dosage specified, spray with a high-pressure sprayer.
③ Spread long-term fertilizer evenly by hand according to the dosage specified, and sprinkle water once before and after fertilization.
④ Spread slow-soluble compound fertilizer evenly at a dosage of 20g/㎡.
⑤ Dilute urea with water at a concentration of 0.5%, and spray with a high-pressure spray gun.
⑥ Fertilization is carried out according to the steps of point, piece, and area to ensure uniformity.
(4) Fertilization cycle
① The fertilization cycle of long-term fertilizer is determined according to the fertilizer instructions.
② Special-grade and first-grade green grass lawns that are not fertilized with long-term fertilizer should apply instant compound fertilizer once a month.
③ Urea is only used for greening on major festivals and inspections, and its use is strictly controlled at other times.
④ Slow-soluble compound fertilizer is applied once every 3 months for second-grade and third-grade green grass lawns.
