Lawn maintenance and management technology

1 watering

Lawn plants cannot lack water throughout their lives, and artificial irrigation can prevent the lawn from dying.

Flood irrigation of lawns is the simplest and most widely used irrigation method, but it can easily cause uneven watering and waste water resources. Nowadays, there is serious water shortage in various places. This flood irrigation method has been replaced by sprinkler irrigation technology.

Lawn sprinkler -spray hawk irrigation can give a certain pressure to the water flow, causing it to atomize into small water droplets, and spread the water on the lawn like rain. The sprinkler irrigation facilities have been laid before the lawn is built, and are controlled by the underground water pipe switch. It is easy to automate and has high water utilization rate.

Watering should be done in the morning. If the temperature and humidity are too high, it is easy to be infected with diseases. In the season of high temperature and drought, sufficient water needs to be poured 1-2 times a week. In the rainy season, watering is rarely done. Also note that the lawn must not be watered immediately after it has been mowed to avoid disease infection.

The irrigation frequency and amount of lawn should be determined based on the type of lawn, rainfall amount, frequency of rainfall, and the use and management level of the lawn.

2 lawn mowing

Mowing is the focus of lawn maintenance and is the most labor-intensive task.

If the grass grows too high, it will block sunlight and cause poor ventilation, which will cause the occurrence of diseases and insect pests, and also affect the appearance. Pruning can promote lawn growth and prolong life.

Lawn mowing is mainly done with a lawnmower. It comes in many varieties. Lawn mowers are flexible and convenient, but expensive. They are suitable for larger areas of green space such as golf courses and stadiums.

No matter what kind of lawn mower is used, the amount of mowing at each time should not exceed 1/3 of the plant height. Generally, lawns in public green spaces need to be mowed 10-15 times a year. Also note that when the lawn is delicate and weak, it should be mowed less.

As a qualified operator, you are not only required to use garden machinery correctly and safely, but also carefully understand their structure in order to carry out correct maintenance and upkeep.

In order to maintain the durability of the lawn, a certain amount of top dressing should be applied according to the fertility status of the lawn and the growth status of the lawn.

3 Reasonable top dressing

When topdressing lawns, urea with high nitrogen content is generally used as the main fertilizer. It is spread and watered immediately after fertilization to prevent fertilizer particles from adhering to the leaves and burning them, so that the fertilizer and water can quickly penetrate into the roots.

Cool-season lawns should be fertilized twice a year, in early spring and early fall. Early spring can speed up greening and enhance disease resistance; early autumn fertilization can extend the green period and promote branching and rhizomes in the second year. Fertilizing for warm-season lawns should be done in early spring and mid-summer.

In addition, it should be noted that fertilizers cannot be applied immediately to newly mowed lawns. Generally, fertilizer can be applied one week after mowing.

4 Pest and disease control

Lawn diseases and insect pests often occur when there is high temperature, high humidity or lack of nutrients. This is mainly caused by fungi. Pests under the lawn can cause bald spots or die of the lawn. You can refer to relevant books to prescribe the right medicine.

Lawn plants are susceptible to pests and diseases all year round, so prevention and control is required, mainly through large-area spraying. If alopecia areata caused by a disease is found, the diseased grass should be removed and updated in time to prevent the bacteria from continuing to spread.

5. Clear weeds

A certain number of weeds growing in the lawn not only affect the appearance, but also compete with the lawn for nutrients and affect the growth of the lawn. Therefore, weeds must be removed promptly when found. In the process of lawn growth, weeds are an important obstacle to the growth of lawns. Weed control is divided into manual weeding and chemical weeding. Manual weeding and control time is short and expensive, and more seriously, it causes great damage to the lawn, which not only affects the appearance, but also affects the appearance of the lawn. And shorten the life of the lawn, we should choose new chemical lawn herbicides that are safe, efficient, environmentally friendly, and have a broad spectrum of weed killing.
