After drilling a hole in the green each time, the surface of the green becomes uneven, and even tire marks from the puncher appear. After sanding, the mowing height of the green needs to be increased, and the surface smoothness and hardness of the green decrease. At this time, how can we quickly restore the green speed to the original speed or even improve it to a certain extent on the original basis? Below, I will discuss my approach with interested friends. Please feel free to give me advice on any shortcomings.
Determine the hole diameter and length of the aerator needle according to actual needs in different seasons and different conditions of the green, prepare the sand to be laid (prepare dried sand if possible). The quality of the sand should be consistent with the sand used to build the root layer of the green. Apply granular fertilizer once 5 days in advance, because it takes about 5 to 7 days for granular compound fertilizer to be absorbed by the root system from fertilization. Physical operations will cause damage to the plants. The purpose of fertilizing in advance is to increase the nutrients in the soil of the root layer, so that the lawn has sufficient nutrients and plays a role in early recovery. If you need to increase the organic matter of the green root system, you can apply organic fertilizer after drilling the holes and then spread the sand. If you need to kill underground pests, you can also sprinkle granular insecticide before spreading the sand.
Communicate with the operation department in advance and start drilling. If the operation pressure is not great and there are not many guests, dry the soil core in the sun, then use an iron net to crush it, and then collect the grass clippings. This can normally save about half of the sand, and then use a green roller to press it along the direction of the drilling. If there is no time to spread sand, water it once. The watering time is determined by the soil moisture and it should be watered thoroughly. If there is no equipment to collect grass clippings in this link, the cutting height of the green mower can be slightly increased and cut once.
Start to spread the sand. The amount of sand should be enough to fill the hole after spreading the dry sand and smoothing it by hand. It is not advisable to spread it too thick. If the sand is too thick, the grass blades will be covered in the sand layer and will not be exposed to the sun, which will reduce the efficiency of photosynthesis. At the same time, the sand can burn the blades after absorbing the heat of the sun, slowing down the growth of the lawn.
After spreading the sand, use an iron net to level the sand, and then water it. Dragging the sand will cause some damage to the blades of the lawn, so be sure to control the amount of sand spread. If too much sand is spread or the sand particle size is large, it is necessary to manually clean and sweep away the excess sand, so that the wear of the lawn mower can be reduced during the mowing process.
The second day after spreading the sand, the green should be mowed. Before mowing, the surface of the green should be sprinkled with water to make the sand on the grass blades fall into the soil, reducing the wear of the reel and bottom knife. You can also choose to mow the green when the surface is dry. Similarly, after spreading the sand, the mowing height of the lawn mower should be higher than the usual mowing height to avoid damaging the lawn mower due to too much sand.
