How to maintain golf course lawns-One

After market surveys, it is understood that most of the lawns used in golf courses in southern my country are hybrids of Bermuda grass. Each golf course hole consists of four main areas, namely the teeing area, the fairway, the obstacle area and the hole area. Among them, the quality of the lawn grass in the hole area is the highest. To manage the lawn grass in the hole area well, the following issues need to be paid attention to:

First, mowing: In order to obtain a satisfactory hitting effect, the height of the grass must be between 3-6.4 mm, so if someone plays every day, unless it rains, the hole area must be mowed every day before the players go on the court.

Second, irrigation: Due to frequent mowing, the plants form shallow roots, which reduces the plants’ ability to absorb water from the soil, and the soil under the hole area contains a lot of sand with poor water retention capacity, so to keep the lawn in this area in good condition, it is necessary to water it frequently, and spray water for a few minutes at noon when it is hot and dry. Watering time is in the evening when the golf course is not in use.
Third, hole change: The location of the hole in the hole area should be changed several times a week. The specific number depends on the degree of trampling and wear of the lawn around the hole to avoid excessive trampling of the local lawn.

Fourth, fertilization: According to the growth conditions, soil mixture, climate, type of fertilizer used and other variable factors, about 0.37-0.73 kg of nitrogen fertilizer is required for every 100 square meters of lawn in each growing month. The amount of phosphorus and potassium is determined according to the results of soil analysis.

Fifth, drilling and aeration: The soil should be drilled or sub-soiled at least once a year to improve the aeration of the root system.

Sixth, adding soil: Mixing the soil-adding material into the dead grass layer on the soil surface can increase the decay rate of the dead grass and make the lawn flat. Generally, sand is added, and a thin layer is added every 3-4 weeks.

Seventh, pest control: Many pathogens and insects can seriously harm the hole area, and even slight damage can temporarily damage the quality of the ball in the hole area. As soon as the pests and diseases show obvious symptoms, appropriate pesticides should be sprayed or spread immediately.

After entering the summer, the cool-season lawn will suffer from long-term drought and high temperature stress, and the lawn will enter dormancy, which is manifested by a significant decrease in life activities and cessation of growth, but the plants will still survive, which is what many lawn managers do not want to see. Choosing high-quality grass seeds from Chunyin can effectively improve the stress resistance of the lawn.
